New version: reservation search, bug fixes and much more

The new version of our app is out on the web and the Playstore.
iOS, will follow suit as it takes some extra days to go through the Apple approval process.

In this version we have introduced a “Search” feature that allows you to search reservations by client name, phone,  email or, even, a fragment of a note.

We have also made many changes and corrections to the reservations calendar and the reservations workflow:

  • Fall back an active reservation to tentative, in case you want to correct a mistake.
  • Allow change of room for a checked-in client.
  • Names of days were added in the reservations calendar (a popular request).

We have changed the looks of:

  • The “Manage Lodging” top list
  • The Support Screen
  • The Settings Screen
  • The Dashboard (= home screen)

We have made fixes and corrections, most notably for:

  • The nasty time-zone bug that affected the countries with time zones with negative UTC offsets, and caused reservations to shift back by one day.
  • The calendar look in Safari, that was distorted with the introduction of iOS 8.

We have also changed the way the dashboard works: now the upcoming check-in and check-out
lists are showing all entries without a cut-off. The setting “Unconfirmed reservations alert threshold (days)”
affects only the unconfirmed (tentative) reservations.

For the web version:

  • We have dropped the full-width mode in all screens except the reservations calendar, where it was mostly needed.  Now the app looks more like its mobile counterparts.
Two tips that will make your life easier:

For the Android version:

  • We have introduced an exciting new look for the dashboard that is more ergonomical and visually appealing. This look will be inherited by the other apps in due course.

As a side note, the Android version is ahead of the rest of our apps in terms of features and, for this reason, the version numbering is different.

All the above changes were a one-off fix for the past. In the next version we will be introducing more radical changes in the structure and function of the app that will make it an indispensable tool for managing and marketing your lodge. Stay tuned.

As always, we welcome your comments and suggestions.
