About languages, dates and numbers

Discoveroom Reservations’  key design objective is simplicity.

This isn’t just to use a nice buzzword, but because there is a business need for simplicity: simplicity allows non tech-savvy users to understand and interact with an application that would otherwise look prohibitive.

For this reason, we have not included any kind of language settings for the app, that could potentially perplex inexperienced users and irritate experienced ones.

To determine the language of the interface  we use a simple rule: the app follows the device.

If there is a translation for the language of the device, then the app will use with the language (and the relevant regional settings) of the device.

If there is no translation, then the app will default to English US.

Which means that  if you want to change the language and regional settings of the app, just change the ones of the device. The app will adjust.

This arrangement will work just fine for most of the users. And it guarantees that once a translation for a previously not supported language is published, the devices affected will automatically adjust in the next app update.
