Why you ‘re losing bookings and how to get them back

You may have noticed that, although prospective clients get in touch through telephone or email to enquire about room availability and prices, very often they don’t come back to make a reservation. What is more, although your website seems to have decent traffic, it doesn’t get you as many bookings as you’d expect. Losing so many prospects doesn’t make much sense, especially since they have somehow expressed their interest in your lodge in the first place. You should definitely be able to attract more bookings. Before deciding on how to deal with this problem, one must start by identifying its […]

Per person pricing, weekend pricing and more with the new rate plans

Today, we  published a major update to our app: the advanced pricing. With the advanced pricing, rate plans become more flexible and robust. So far, one could only set the date ranges that a certain price would be applicable. Now, you can set a number of conditions and a rule that applies when the conditions are met. The conditions can be a combination of date ranges, as before, day(s) of the week, a certain channel or the number of persons in a reservation. The rules can be an absolute value (i.e. setting the price explicitly), a percentage increase or decrease, and a […]

New reports and data export

We released today a new version of our web app that includes significantly improved reports. The new reports have totals for all the numeric fields, both per page as well as for the full report. The new report generation mechanism allows you to make multiple combinations of fields and field value and also combine your filtering with a text search. For instance, you can create a report that picks all the reservations with check-out dates within June 2015, excluding the tentative and cancelled ones, only for a particular channel (say, booking.com) and for clients with email (= searching the @ […]

Swipe, list sorting and calendar enhancements for the mobile apps

We published today a new version for our Android and iOS apps. This new version (1.3.003 and 1.3.0 respectively) brings the two platforms in sync and features some exciting enhancements with the most important one being the overhaul of the Dashboard. Dashboard After examining the way our users interact with the app and the dashboard, in particular, we thought that were many more actions that we could allow users to perform from the dashboard, and save them a significant amount of time, especially for purely administrative tasks like check-ins and check-outs. So, we introduced two groups  of actions that can be […]

Who needs a booking engine?

It is a month now since we introduced Web Bookings, our own booking engine, and, from the feedback we have received so far, I feel that I need to answer some very fundamental questions the lodging owners seem to have. But let’s start from the beginning. What is a booking engine? Or, more correctly, an Internet Booking Engine (IBE), as Wikipedia puts it, is: … an application which helps the travel and tourism industry support reservation through the Internet. It helps consumers to book flights, hotels, holiday packages, insurance and other services online. This is a much needed application […]

Discoveroom Reservations 1.1.1 for iOS, with offline mode and export

We just published on the app store the latest version (1.1.1) of our free app, Discoveroom Reservations. The new version comes with some nice additions: Offline mode: Now you can view and enter reservations without the need of a network. The offline data are a subset of the cloud data and they are stored dynamically as you work within a certain calendar range. The reservations that are entered offline are synced with the server once the network connectivity is restored.  Like the Android app, you cannot edit or cancel reservations offline as this could potentially lead  to major inconsistencies. Export : […]

Web Bookings: a booking engine tailored for small lodges

Today we released our second major product, a booking engine named Web Bookings.  We have been building Web Bookings  for months with lots of  feedback from our user community. Like our free app, Discoveroom Reservations, we designed Web Bookings to be  simple and elegant. It is easy to use both for the lodging owners and their website visitors.  Many small lodgings do not have a functional website or a website at all. That is why our booking engine includes a full presentation of the lodge and its rooms,  branded accordingly. You can upload photos, enter descriptions and lists of amenities, both for the lodging in general as […]

A new breaking version with lots of improvements

We have developed a new version of our app which brings a lot of changes but, more importantly, sets the foundation for a number of new products and services that we will roll out in the coming months. This version will take the number 1.1.0 for the web and iOS and 1.3.0 for Android. The new  version is a breaking one, meaning that, once rolled out publicly, all users will be forced to migrate to it, as the new data structure is incompatible with the previous one and the two versions cannot co-exist. Here is a quick list of the most […]
