Additional short notifications for the booking engine

In the past two weeks we have rolled out two new short  email notifications for the booking engine (Web Bookings).

  • “Reservation in progress”: The first is sent by email to the owners when a client is starting the process to book a room, just before payment.   At this point, a tentative reservation is already created under his name and it is visible in the calendar. The email body will look like this:
    • First Name: <first name>
      Last Name: <last name>
      Email:
      Phone: <phone>
      Date from: dd/mm/yyyy
      Date to: dd/mm/yyyy
      Agreed price: 999
      State: 1 (Tentative reservation)
  • “Reservation in progress was cancelled“. The second is sent when the client, once on the Paypal page, decides to cancel. Upon cancelling, the reservation disappears from the calendar but can still be traced with in the Reports. The email body will be the same as before, except for the last line.

If the client completes the booking, then the owner receives the normal notification.

The reason for adding these notifications was the desire to give the lodge owners greater visibility as to what is happening with their booking engines.

A lot of clients  start the booking process but, for whatever reason, they stopped midway. Since the owners were not getting a final confirmation, they did not become aware of this activity.

More, since some clients just abandoned the process, instead of cancelling, the tentative reservations they had created in the calendar, were left unchanged and undiscovered.

Now, once you receive the first notification and not a final confirmation or cancellation, within a reasonable amount of time, you can safely conclude that something went wrong with this client and, if you wish, you can try to contact him directly either by phone or email, to find out why.

The notifications work regardless if you are using just the booking engine or the booking engine withing the web sites created by the Website builder.

We hope this will help you make more conversions.
